Vacancy - Systems Engineer apprentice
Construct Films is an innovative photography company that specialises in long term time-lapse filming on construction sites for periods of months and years. We develop our own hardware and software for custom weatherproof camera systems that must operate reliably and autonomously for these long durations. We use technologies including SLR cameras, 4G mobile broadband and solar power.
We're looking for a Systems Engineer apprentice to be trained in electronics engineering alongside providing technical assistance at our office and our clients' sites, which includes preparing equipment, developing improvements and researching new technologies.
- Training includes an NVQ on an Electronics Engineering pathway, with day release at a local college. This training will typically last 2 years when attending college 1 day per week.
- Work in our lab includes the design, test and build of circuits for our existing system, with research and development into new systems.
- Work on our clients' sites includes installation and maintenance of equipment, usually working outdoors and occasionally at height. This involves carrying equipment, and occasionally climbing stairs or ladders.
30 hours per week including day release.
Alongside the apprenticeship technical qualification, we'll provide relevant training and qualifications for working on construction sites.
£4.50 per hour during the first year of the apprenticeship scheme.
Pay is paid monthly via our PAYE scheme.
Our office is at Marsh Mills, Luck Lane, Huddersfield HD3 4AB (behind the Westbourne Road Co-op).
Working with us provides the opportunity to learn about camera technology, server and network infrastructure, video production, software and power technologies. If you have enthusiasm for engineering and you enjoy technical work and problem solving, this role combines a variety of disciplines with potential to develop your skills further.
